The fine print
Privacy policy
We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This policy explains, in plain English, what we collect when you use Face for Hire, why, and what your rights are.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Face for Hire is run by Pro Media Mogul, a digital agency in Durban, South Africa. Pro Media Mogul is the “responsible party” for your personal information under POPIA.
For any privacy question or request, contact our Information Officer at info@promediamogul.com or on WhatsApp at +27 60 436 7596.
2. What we collect
- Contact details: your name, company name, email address, phone number, and website or social page.
- Your brief: your industry, what you want promoted, your messages, preferred platforms, tone, deadline and anything else you type into the brief form.
- Files you upload: logos, product photos, photos of your premises, price lists and similar. Please don’t upload photos of other people unless you have their permission.
- Order and payment information: your package, the amount, the payment reference and whether the payment succeeded. Paystack processes your card or banking details; we never see or store them.
- Technical information: your IP address, browser type and the date and time of your visit, which our server records for security, spam prevention and troubleshooting. When you agree to our terms, we record the time, your IP address and browser type as proof of your agreement.
3. Why we use it
- To review your brief, make and deliver your videos, and keep you updated (this is necessary to perform our agreement with you).
- To take payment and keep proper financial records (to meet our legal obligations).
- To keep the site secure and prevent fraud and spam (our legitimate interest).
- To answer your questions when you contact us.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we won’t send you marketing messages unless you ask for them or the law allows it. You can opt out at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We only share what’s needed, with service providers who help us run Face for Hire:
- Paystack, to process your payment. Paystack’s own privacy policy applies to the details you enter on its checkout page.
- Our web hosting and email providers, who store our website, orders and emails.
- Google Fonts, which supplies the typefaces on this site. Your browser fetches them from Google, so Google receives your IP address.
Some of these providers may process information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we rely on providers that offer an adequate level of protection, as POPIA requires. We may also disclose information if the law requires us to.
5. Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep your session working: it protects the brief form against forgery and remembers what you typed if something needs fixing. It is deleted when you close your browser.
At the moment we don’t use advertising or analytics cookies on this site. If that changes, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
- We keep your brief and uploaded files only as long as we need them to produce, deliver and support your videos, and then delete them.
- We keep order and payment records for as long as tax and accounting laws require (generally five years).
- If you are a Brand Ambassador client, we keep the record of your exclusivity for as long as it applies.
7. How we protect it
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Orders and uploaded files are stored in a private folder that can’t be opened from a web browser, and only authorised Pro Media Mogul staff can access them through a password-protected admin area. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, and we’ll let you and the Information Regulator know if a breach affects you, as POPIA requires.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy;
- ask us to correct or delete information that is wrong, out of date or no longer needed;
- object to us using your information in certain ways, including for direct marketing; and
- complain to the Information Regulator if you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information: inforegulator.org.za.
To make a request, email info@promediamogul.com. We may need to confirm your identity first.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
Face for Hire is for businesses and adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18.
